Where do you plan to be at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 5? If you live in Dundee, the answer this year is Highway 99W. The Dundee Fire & Rescue Holiday Parade is moving to that Saturday, according to Dobbes Family Winery's Holiday Walk page. That's the same day as the downtown Holiday Walk and the tree lighting at Dobbes.
This year the two traditions share one Saturday, and the parade ends at the spot where the evening's events begin. That changes how the whole day works. It also lands in a year when downtown Dundee's food hours have shifted at both ends of the day, so you can actually stay on 99W from morning coffee through the tree lighting without driving to Newberg for a meal.
The Parade Now Leads Into Everything Else
Here is the timeline Dobbes has posted.
| Time | What's happening | Where |
|---|---|---|
| All day | Ornament making, cookie decorating, seasonal treats and "special surprises" | Participating downtown businesses |
| 5:00 p.m. | Dundee Fire & Rescue Holiday Parade | Through downtown, ending at Dobbes |
| 6:00 p.m. | Holiday gathering with local vendors, treats and warm drinks | Dobbes Family Winery, 240 SE 5th Street |
| 7:15 p.m. | Holiday tree lighting | Dobbes Family Winery |
| 8:00 p.m. | Celebration wraps |
The parade's finish line is also where the evening gathering happens, so whatever spot you pick to watch from decides how far you walk afterward. A curb close to Dobbes keeps you near the vendors and the 6 p.m. warm drinks. A spot farther up 99W means a stroll down to the tree after the floats go by, with a little over two hours to fill before the 7:15 lighting.
What's Open Along the Route
Before the parade, the daytime Holiday Walk is a business-by-business crawl. The Dobbes page lists these participants:
- Dobbes Family Winery, host of the tree lighting
- Trellis
- Wooden Heart, serving soup
- Dundee Hotel
- Red Hills Market, with treats
- Breakside / Alit
- Argyle, pouring bubbles
- Lytle-Barnett / Aubaine
- North Valley Vineyards / La Biblioteca
- Open Claim
- Van Duzer
- Cathedral Ridge
- The Olive Branch
- La Sierra, with tamales
- The Wine Spa
Soup from Wooden Heart, tamales from La Sierra and treats from Red Hills Market are enough food to carry you from afternoon to parade time. More details could still be added to the listing between now and December 5.
The Day Starts Earlier Than It Used To
The full-day plan holds up because of two openings from this fall.
In early October, Wooden Heart added an expanded café inside the Dundee Hotel. It serves Caravan Coffee, house-baked pastries, scones and grab-and-go items daily from 7 to 11 a.m. The Dundee Hills Winegrowers Association called it "the earliest spot open in Dundee," pitched to parents after school drop-off and early risers. The dining room and bar are open to anyone who wants to sit with friends or get some work done. The full breakfast menu runs Friday through Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to noon, so on December 5 you can get The Classic, the Potato Galette or the Eggs Benedict before the Holiday Walk gets going.
Wooden Heart started more than eight years ago as a mobile wood-fired pizza truck. Ryan and Yvette Clark run it. Its own site lists daily hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. for espresso, breakfast, lunch and dinner. That's longer than the café window in the October announcement, so check before planning a late visit.
Red Hills Market is the other early option. It opens daily at 8 a.m., serves breakfast until 11 and serves lunch and dinner until 8 p.m. It also has a short break posted for November 3 through 5, so it reopens Friday, November 6.
And Runs Later Into the Evening
At the other end of the day, Alit Wines and Breakside Brewery opened a food cart at 531 OR-99W. Alit marked Saturday, October 3, as the grand opening. The menu is pub food: smashburgers, fried chicken, a warm brewery pretzel, a few salads and a small kids' menu. Dan Brownhill, Breakside's Director of Restaurants and Taprooms, told the Dundee Hills Winegrowers Association that everyone is welcome "for a burger and a beer or glass of wine, catch a football game in the tent, or grab dinner on the way home from work." Orders are also available through Uber Eats for pickup or delivery.
Hours depend on where you look. Alit's visit page lists 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and noon to 8 p.m. on weekends, closed Monday and Tuesday. Breakside's Dundee page lists 2 to 8 p.m. on every open day. Alit has also posted that winter hours are in effect, without giving the times. Check before you go. Either way, the cart is open until 8 p.m. on a Saturday, so it covers the gap between the end of the parade and the tree lighting.
For a sit-down weeknight dinner, Travel Dundee lists Tina's as serving dinner Wednesday through Sunday.
This is also Dundee's first holiday season without The Dundee Bistro. Newsberg reported that it closed in November 2025 after 26 years of serving visitors and locals. The new options sit at the edges of the day, coffee at 7 a.m. and burgers until 8 p.m. A long-running downtown dinner room is no longer one of them.
The Rest of the Season, Weekend by Weekend
December 5 is the busiest day on the calendar, but the season begins this Saturday. Here's what's listed in and around Dundee between now and the solstice.
Saturday, November 7. Dusky Goose's Holiday Grand Tasting runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 8355 NE Warren Road.
November 14–15. Nysa Vineyard's Big Bottle Weekend at 18655 NE Trunk Road pours from magnums and rare 3-liter bottles. Hours aren't posted yet.
Saturday, November 21. Harvest in the Hills, a walk-around tasting of Dundee Hills AVA wines with small bites, runs 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Domaine Serene, 6555 NE Hilltop Lane. Tickets are required.
November 21–22. The Dobbes Holiday Market fills the winery's cellar with local vendors selling gifts and handmade goods the weekend before Thanksgiving. Dobbes says to come bundled up.
November 27–29. Over Thanksgiving weekend, Dobbes releases its first sparkling red, made from 100% Syrah, as a bonus pour after a tasting flight. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, December 5. The parade and tree lighting above. Up the hill, Woodshed Wine Company holds a Sip & Shop from 3 to 6 p.m. at 9820 NE Worden Hill Road, with holiday gift vendors and complimentary pours, no reservation needed. It overlaps the parade's 5 p.m. start, so an early-afternoon visit leaves time to get back down to 99W.
December 12–13. Ambar Estate's Dundee Hills tasting room at 12550 NE Worden Hill Road hosts glass-blown ornament workshops at noon on Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Sunday, December 13. Furioso Vineyards throws a Bubbles Party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 8415 NE Worden Hill Road.
Saturday, December 19. Argyle Winery holds a Winter Solstice Sound Bath from 9 to 10 a.m. at 691 OR-99W.
